Don’t Cry to Mama

Sometimes story ideas never fully conceptualize until a small missing element comes into play.

Mora had been bouncing around in my brain for more than a year when Jonathon told me about his new imprint Jolly Horror Press and their first ever anthology Don’t Cry to Mama. He wanted my words for his press, for this anthology. I’d never been sought out like that before; my brain commissioned to create.

I dug through my slush pile for something suitable or near enough. Yes, I had a story that could be reinvented to fit the specifics of the anthology. I got to work rewriting Mora––originally about an alien planet and the nomadic people who lived on its ever-changing surface––and ended up with a bizarre gem based here on Earth.

I’m humbled that my story was selected as the finalé for this fine collection, which is now available in both paperback and Kindle formats.

[All Persons Fictitious]

These stories, characters, and plot lines are the creation and property of Michelle Butcher. Any similarity to persons alive, dead, or undead is purely coincidental.
